Ask Our Service Team Pros!

Service Questions and Answers

Here are Some Frequently Ask Questions Answered by our Hoselton Nissan Service Team

Question about your vehicle? Our service team professionals are here to help! Here are a few frequently asked questions answered by one of our Hoselton Nissan Service Advisors.

Q: What in the world is a timing belt and why does it need to be replaced?

A: timing belt is a critical rubber belt that's used to transfer power from the engine's crankshaft to the camshaft, which in turn controls the opening, closing and timing of your engine's values. This is one of those parts that isn't visible but plays a vital role in your engine's operation. Over time, a rubber timing belt will deteriorate and can break apart inside your engine. If this happens, it can cause major damage which is very costly to repair. To avoid this, simply replace your timing belt at the manufacturer's recommended time/mileage intervals.

Q: My car makes noises when I brake. What should I do?

A: Your car's brake system is it's most critical safety system; you should have them checked immediately if you suspect any problems. A properly operating brake system helps ensure safe vehicle control and operation under a wide variety of conditions. Avoid letting your brakes get to the "metal - to - metal" point, which usually means accelerating expensive rotor or drum replacement. There are several factors that affect wear, including driving habits, operating conditions, vehicle type and the quality of the brake lining material.

Q: Last month my car's battery died with no warning. How could I have known it was going to just up and die on me?

A: An expiring battery will give some hints that it's on its way out when your lights get dimmer and the engine starting gets noticeably weaker or hesitant. If the battery has outlived its useful life, neither warning lights nor meters are much help. You can expect your battery to last about four years and then replace it with a new battery. The best thing to do is have your battery and cables checked every year. At Hoselton, we offer a free battery test with no obligation.

Hoselton Toyota & Toyota Motor Sales USA Present $20,000 to Heritage Christian Services

 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014
For more information:

Marketta Bakke, Associate Director of Communications, Heritage Christian Services
(585) 340-2012,

HOSELTON TOYOTA AND TOYOTA MOTOR SALES USA PRESENT $20,000
TO HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

EAST ROCHESTER – A $20,000 donation from Hoselton Toyota and Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. will help Heritage Christian Services to rebuild and maintain the walkways at Heritage Christian Stables in Webster.

Heritage Christian – an agency that supports more than 1,800 children and adults with disabilities – will use the $10,000 from Hoselton and the matching $10,000 from Toyota to rebuild and maintain the walkways used by horses carrying riders with developmental and other disabilities, as well as our volunteers who help lead the horses and guide the riders.

Improvements to the walkways have enabled the volunteers, riders and staff to safely bring horses in an out of the paddocks.  Riders are no longer limited in participating. The laneways have been improved and now they can be used for trail-riding. These walkways are the only access to trail-riding space at the back of our property.  In the past we were unable to offer this activity because the footing was unsafe and constantly wet.

“Each person in life has experiences that influence and shape them said Drew Bielemeier, senior vice president of operations.   We believe at Heritage Christian Stables offers an opportunity to create meaningful experiences and relationships that results in joy in one’s life, confidence in one’s self and value in our stables community.”

"Hoselton is proud to be able to be part of such a great organization," said Drew Hoselton, President of Hoselton Auto Mall. "Heritage Christian Services provides a much needed resource for our community and those with disabilities. Heritage not only supplies practical care such as housing and activities but also seeks to provide encouragement, support and hope for all family members. When my great grandfather Walter founded Hoselton Chevrolet in the 1920's, he was committed to giving back to the community. That is a tradition that we are privileged to be able to continue through our involvement with Heritage Christian Services. We look forward to many years of serving together in the future.

The Toyota Dealer Match Program enables dealer contributions to make a greater impact on the community. Since 1991, Toyota has contributed more than $500 million to non-profit organizations, and has always been guided by a strong belief in serving the communities where it does business.  To learn more, please visit http://www.toyota.com/about/philanthropy/.

Myth: I Drive a Lot of Miles, I Can’t Lease a Car

Common Concern of Car Shoppers and Why YOU CAN Lease a New Vehicle!

One of the most common concerns customers share with me is "I can’t lease a car, I drive a lot of miles". Although I agree that leasing is not necessarily for everyone (for example: if you like to keep your cars for a long time), driving a lot of miles may not be as bad for leasing as you think.

Mileage Penalty: In reality if you drive a lot of miles it adds to the cost of ownership whether you lease or buy. A lease will cost more in your monthly payment, as a cost per mile. When you own the vehicle, high mileage will “cost” you more by decreasing the value of your vehicle when it comes time to trade it in or sell it privately. Summary: You either pay for extra mileage during a lease or you “pay" with a lower trade-in value. Either way it costs more to drive more miles.

Auto Accident: One reason it may make more sense to lease than to buy is the chance you may have a fender bender (P.S. We have a great Collision Center & Body Shop to help you with that!). When you drive a lot of miles your chances of getting into an accident increases with each mile. One of the things that greatly affect the value of your vehicle is the CARFAX Vehicle History Report. If you own the vehicle, having an accident on the CARFAX Vehicle History Report can greatly affect the value of the vehicle at time of trade-in or if you sell it privately. As the owner/title holder, you are responsible for the risk in loss of value. If you leased the vehicle, the owner/title holder (the leasing company) is responsible for the risk in loss of value. In this case, after you get your vehicle fixed and at the time of lease expiration, if the vehicle has lost value because of a damaged CARFAX Vehicle History Report you get to hand the keys over to the lease company and it is their loss now.

These are just two examples of why if you drive more miles than the average driver, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t lease a car!
